Becoming a better Citizen We were approached by Givewith, a division of CBS EcoMedia, to design Citizen, a new publication showcasing inspiring stories of everyday heroes and nonprofit organizations that are improving the world.
EcoMedia was founded with the mission to leverage corporate advertising dollars to provide funding and resources to support leading not-for-profit organizations.
Working with the Givewith editorial team, we created an oversized publication with a format that is engaging and flexible.
In order to unify the variety of profiles within the publication, we chose to make use of only one type family throughout (Electra, designed in 1935 by the visionary designer and typographer W.A.Dwiggins, a hero of ours).
One can do a lot with type: we embraced the challenge to be expressive working within this constraint. Having a wonderful selection of photographs with which to work certainly didn’t hurt matters.
