Poster announcing the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s New Music America festival. If you can’t think of an idea, just use either a piece of meat or a smiling boy. Works every time.
The type was hand-lettered, and the face was tinted by hand with photo oil colors. (This was done a long time ago before we had access to fancy computers.)
The poster was designed so that it could be ganged four-up when posted on the street. We were all pretty young back then.
The Smiling Boy’s face was used as a celebratory mask.
