VH1 Save the Music Foundation

An updated identity for a vital organization The Save the Music Foundation provides music instruction and instruments to kids, with the knowledge that students who play music tend to do better academically.

The organization’s previous logo was problematic to use. They knew they needed a new logo but didn’t want to lose their beloved trumpet.

We love a good challenge. We found a way to keep the trumpet.

Above: Here’s how the logo looked before we started our work: It didn’t reproduce well at small sizes or against colorful backgrounds. It was too complicated and too sprawling. The only instruction we received: Keep the trumpet.

A good test for any logo is to see if it can hold its own adjacent to Mariah Carey or John Mayer.

Above: The updated logo did work well at small sizes…

…and at large ones too.
