Designing for Spring
We were approached by Colorblends, one of the country’s leading tulip bulb importers and distributors, to help position the company, focus their messaging, and create a new set of identity and communication materials.
Colorblends occupies a unique niche: Working primarily with landscape architects and commercial garden contractors, the company develops and imports custom tulip blends.
Our mission was to ﬁnd a way to suggest the excitement of Colorblends’ offerings, suggesting the optimism and beauty that tulips represent.
We updated the Colorblends logo, taking our inspiration from stenciled lettering found on the sides of tulip bulb crates.
The catalog was designed to be engaging and informative, inspiring through example.
We were given the mission to “own color and Springtime.” Not a bad challenge to be given.
We started our work by interviewing customers, landscape designers, and contractors to gather their perceptions of the company and the products and services they provide.
Armed with that information we were able to create a suite of informative identity and communication materials that convey the sense of spirit, joy, and optimism that almost everyone in the world of flowerbulbs seems to possess.
