Mitchell College

Helping a college engage its prospects Mitchell College approached us to create a new program of recruitment and admissions materials.

Mitchell was under new leadership and in the process of refining and articulating their mission. They needed to reflect a nontraditional spirit, a sense of excitement, and a focus on the individualized instruction that is the hallmark of the College.

They wanted to engage prospective students and encourage them to learn more about their offerings.

To start off, we decided to dispense with the traditional glossy, perfect-bound college viewbook. All too often these are predictable, ponderous documents with way too much information shoehorned in: By trying to tell too much, they often don’t say much at all.

Instead, we created a series of four foldout fliers. They are all the same size when closed, but each expands in a different and unexpected way to tell a unique story.

As the reader unfolds each piece, she is presented with a series of stories and messages that provide a journey through what makes Mitchell College unique and surprising.
Our goal was to help students think about how they might be a good fit for what the College offers.
The goal is not to try to tell the whole Mitchell story but instead give prospective students and their parents a quick and engaging overview.
When presented as a set, the individual pieces are held together by a customized belly band.

Each piece when fully opened presents an engaging tapestry of facts, information, and ways to engage the College.

The recruitment program also includes a smaller-scale travel piece for college fairs, email templates, postcards, and a customized acceptance mailer

A rollout door-sized poster is mailed to students who have expressed interest in Mitchell College.
