Aéropostale

We created a series of custom friezes, wallpaper patterns, and changing room designs for the prototype and 700-store rollout of this chain, which targets 11- to 18-year-olds. The program incorporates a unique two-layered window scrim system (shown here) that provides continually changing looks. Created in collaboration with Schwartz Architects.

Our work has included the reimagining of all areas of public interaction: Developing brand and communication platforms, the creation of print, online, direct mail, and outdoor advertising, the design and naming of the “Donation Station” dropoff locations, design of the truck fleet, and the complete overhaul of the store interiors, bringing the shopping experience up to a new level.

WH Smith Ltd. (U.S.)

Design of publications, promotional material, and a retail merchandising and signage system for a nation-wide network of airport stores.

A/X: Armani Exchange
New York, New York

We were approached to help develop the look for what was to be a new, mid-priced line for the venerable house of Armani. The design of the retail environment was utilitarian in nature, inspired by the look of old Army PX facilities. Our responsibilities included the development of a cohesive packaging and visual approach to the line and the stores, which was to be called A/X.

We created boxes featuring die-cut holes that reflect the industrial look of the stores. Shopping bags are sewn along the bottom in the style of fertilizer sacks, and the handles are made from clothesline ropes. (We take our inspirations wherever we can get them.) Signage was etched steel. We developed the prototype store and were involved in the rollout of the first 40 locations.

John G. Shedd Aquarium
Chicago, Illinois

Graphic design for the gift shop within the Shedd Aquarium. We worked with Frederic Schwartz Architects in developing the graphic approach and color palette, creating informational text panels and mural designs that prove a retail environment is educational as well as entertaining.

The Wall Music

Design of identity program, publications, advertising, promotional material, and a retail merchandising and signage system for a chain of 200 music stores.

Linens ’n Things

Design of the gift registry section within each of the stores. We created a system of rotating images to brand the gift/bridal areas, emphasizing a range of products. The system was used in signage, advertising, and promotions.

Toys “R” Us

Creation of a packaging and merchandising program for the successful launch of the Animal Planet line. We created display graphics, named the products, and wrote and designed over 120 packages for the program, earning the Toys “R” Us Vendor of the Year award for our efforts.
